Adolf is the butler and sole remaining inhabitant at Moonlight Castle in Austria, the home of ancestors of Shaggy Rogers. When Shaggy came to visit he tried to turn him into a werewolf using the Moonlight Medallion.

He apparently wanted a werewolf companion in the castle because of his loneliness. When he ended up with the medallion and could change back and forth to a werewolf by himself his loneliness was satisfied.
