Sheriff Stone is capable of much better disguises, like an old lady and the Ghost of Nitro Wisinski. The poor quality of this disguise shows how much he had lost heart.

Sheriff Stone reveals the obvious.
He had to take a new job at Skipper Shelton's Clam Cabin after being fired by Mayor Fred Jones, Sr. He hoped to hide his shame, but the disguise was completely transparent and the gang had to pretend to be fooled out of pity. When they told him of evidence against the purported Ghost of Dead Justice, he whisked round to take off his bag and nametag, replacing it with his sheriff hat and badge, expecting it to be a big surprise.[1]
