The Benevolent Lodge of Mystery was a mystery-solving group active from the 1880s to the 1910s.

History[]

Early history[]

A book in the Burlington Library has many details about their history.

The society was founded by railroad baron Oswald P. Burlington, who owned rails from Chicago to Tallahassee as well as the Mississippi River. It was joked that the sun never set on his financial empire.

The group often solved mysteries involving ghost hoaxes. One case involved a thief who was unmasked and found to be a criminal on the loose from the local sanitarium. The Lodge was lauded by the locals and given quite a feast, which Mr. Peaches and Scotty O'Rourke happily consumed.

Their travels spanned the globe for several decades. They were known to have visited:

  • Germany
  • Austria-Hungary
  • Ottoman Empire
  • Bulgaria
  • Serbia
  • Russia
  • France
  • Britain
  • Belgium
  • Romania
  • The Far East
  • The African continent

It was rumored that their movements and the subsequent relics they uncovered may have led to the start of World War I, but none can say for sure because many of the manuscripts and private documents of the group mysteriously burned in a fire in the government archives.

Mr. Peaches' health failed due to old age, and the heartbroken Burlington disbanded the group and retired to his library in the mountains to catalog and preserve his collection of relics. He placed a peach daily on the memorial of Mr. Peaches since it was the mascot's favorite food.[1]

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated[]

Season two[]

They appeared as a hallucination to Velma Dinkley when she was under the influence of terror wood.[1]

They were seen beside a train outside the Burlington Library in a time-frozen scene in the sitting room, which also showed the fourth key in the air, associating it with that element.[2]

The Annunaki-possessed Nova explained about all the mystery-solving gangs before Mystery Incorporated.[3]

Post-Nibiru[]

When the Evil Entity was destroyed, it altered all of reality; thus the Benevolent Lodge of Mystery wasn't formed in the past.
