- This article is about Buck Masters's dog from the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode, Decoy for a Dognapper. For Big Red from Scooby-Doo (DC Comics), see Big Red.
Big Red is a champion show dog owned by Buck Masters.
History[]
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You![]
Season one[]
Big Red, owned by Buck Masters, was the first dog stolen in the dognapping spree that targeted show dogs. A ransom note was sent to Masters, but he refused to pay it and instead offered the money as a reward for anyone helping to catch the thieves. This offer caught the attention of Mystery Inc., who took on the challenge of finding the dognappers.
After using Scooby as a decoy for a show dog owned by Bob Miller, the gang tracked the dognappers to an abandoned Indian village where they matched wits with a ghostly Witch Doctor. After finding the missing dogs, they determined that Masters himself was behind the scheme. He intended to kidnap the only competition Big Red would have at the upcoming County Dog Show and faked Big Red's dognapping to avoid suspicion. He planned to have Big Red miraculously reappear in the nick of time to enter him in the dog show and be assured of victory.
Appearances[]
- Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
- 105. Decoy for a Dognapper (mentioned only)
Notes/trivia[]
- Presumably, Big Red does not appear in this episode. It is unknown whether any of the dogs rescued by Scooby at the Indian village is Big Red, but it stands to reason that Masters would not have kept his own dog with the stolen dogs and that Big Red would not chase him as part of an effort to catch him.
