Bud Shelton is the inventor and former mascot of sports drink brand Trickell's Trickquid.

Physical appearance[]

Shelton is a short, stocky, man with brown hair and black eyes. His hair is somewhat shaggy, and a small amount sticks up on top of his head. Shelton also has a distinct mole pattern on his left cheek and a gap in between his front teeth. He regularly wears turtleneck sweaters, but also appears in costume as the Trickell's Trickquid mascot. The mascot costume looks like an oversized bottle of Trickell's Trickquid: light blue in color with the company logo on the front, along with blue sleeves, white gloves and light blue and white-striped pants. The costume is completed with a yellow bowtie.

Personality[]

Shelton was a vengeful man, being extremely mad at Peter Trickell for stealing his invention to the extent that he created a monster disguise to attack innocent victims.

History[]

Early life[]

Bud Shelton invented the beverage "Bud's Bloosh," but credit was stolen by Peter Trickell, who renamed the drink to "Trickell's Trickquid" and marketed it as a "non-fat, liquid diet, no calorie, gluten-free moisture supplement." Shelton was reduced to portraying the company's advertising mascot.

As an act of revenge, Shelton created the Man-Crab disguise to attack a volleyball tournament being sponsored by Trickell's Trickquid. He built the costume out of robotic parts and built a system of trapdoors and tunnels connecting the beach and the Crystal Cove caves. He also attempted to frame restaurant owner Skipper Shelton by keeping the costume in a locker labelled with Skipper's name.

Bud unmasked.

During the volleyball tournament, the Man-Crab kidnapped many young women, including Mystery Inc. member Daphne Blake. After being led to the caves by the mysterious Mr. E, the remaining members of Mystery Inc. found and rescued the missing women, only to be attacked by the Man-Crab.

The Man-Crab was caught after chasing members Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo and falling into a trap created by Fred Jones, Jr. His identity was revealed as Bud Shelton and he was handed over to the authorities.

Notes/trivia[]

  • For unknown reasons, Bud Shelton is credited as "Bud Coleman."
  • Velma Dinkley's research on Bud brought up an old picture of him and Mr. Trickell when they were kids, yet in the present, Bud is only just a teenager, and Trickell is middle-aged.
