CBS was the first American channel to air Scooby-Doo, with Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! In 1969, vice president and head of children's programming, Fred Silverman, commissioned the project to be animated by Hanna-Barbera, and written by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears. Reruns continued until 1975 when the channel ceased airing it. In 1976, Silverman moved to ABC as president, and commissioned another series.
