Carl Steven was a former child actor who voiced the junior high version of Freddie Jones on A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. He had on-screen roles on Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and as a young Spock on Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. In 1996 before his retirement, he had a brief recurring role on the Weird Science TV series.
He became addicted to prescription medications after a tonsillectomy, and stole to support his addiction. Steven was sentenced to 13 years in prison for armed robbery in 2009.[1] He died a year later on July 31, 2011, due to a heroin overdose while in prison in Arizona.[1][2]
