Char Gar Gothakon The Beast That Hath No Name

Char Gar Gothakon: The Beast That Hath No Name (also known as The Shrieking Madness of Char Gar Gothakon: The Beast That Hath No Name) is a novel by Prof. H.P. Hatecraft.

History[]

The book became the center of a controversy at Darrow University after the book's monster, Char Gar Gothakon, came to life and began to attack anyone who was critical of H.P. Hatecraft, including Hatecraft's rival, Harlan Ellison. Though fans took the work seriously, encouraged by Hatecraft's theatrics and claims that the book came from actual ancient texts, he admitted that it was simple a work of fiction when it was clear that people were being placed in danger because of the book.

Char Gar Gothakon turned on Hatecraft and attacked him in his home. Mystery Incorporated were able to save Hatecraft and trap the monster, revealing that Darrow University student and Hatecraft super-fan Howard E. Roberts was responsible. Roberts took the book so seriously that he brought the monster to life to attack Hatecraft's critics, ultimately going after Hatecraft upon his admission that the work was fiction.

Notes/trivia[]

  • Characters note the irony of the title, being that "Char Gar Gothakon" is the name of the creature itself. (It could be noted that the name could be its title, not its true name.)
  • As H.P. Hatecraft is a parody of legendary author H.P. Lovecraft, it is unsurprising that Char Gar Gothakon references one of Lovecraft's most famous works, The Call of Cthulhu. Moreover, the overzealous super-fan Howard E. Roberts is a reference to author Robert E. Howard, who was known to love The Call of Cthulhu.
