He seems to be very calm and quiet, and is easily ordered around by his wife.[2]

History[]

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated[]

Season one[]

After advising Shaggy to breathe while eating his breakfast, he expressed him and Paula's concerns about this "mystery phase" Shaggy was going through, which was getting him into trouble with the law. He tried to politely tell him to make new friends without making it an order, but went along when his wife when she insisted he should, prompting Shaggy to reply that they had nothing to worry about.[2]

He didn't pick up the phone to answer Shaggy's call for help from Gatorsburg because he was his wife's muse for a still-life painting.[3]

He drove Shaggy to check out Darrow University, but asked him not to reveal his last name while there.[4]

He and Paula came to get Shaggy and Scooby-Doo out of jail after Sheriff Stone arrested them for breaking into City Hall; Colton snapped at Angie Dinkley for suggesting they burn sage to clear the air. Colton and Paula were shocked when Shaggy and Scooby jumped out of a window on still-life night after being sent to their room, eventually making their way to the Old Spanish Church with Sheriff Stone and the other Mystery Incorporated parents. After the Freak was caught, Colton and Paula decided to take the "nuclear option" by sending Shaggy to military school and Scooby to a "nice farm."[1]

Season two[]

Colton was in attendance at Mayor Nettles' event announcing the return of Mystery Incorporated. Despite initially cheering their entrance, he and Paula stood up in shock when they realized that Shaggy and Scooby were there. Paula asked how they got out of military school and the farm and Shaggy told them that he had been promoted to General and Scooby was with him as an undercover agent so they could fight Crybaby Clown.[5]

Appearances[]

Notes/trivia[]

  • Colton is voiced by the late Casey Kasem, who voiced the original incarnation of Shaggy, thus becoming a passing of the torch between him and Matthew Lillard, who voices this incarnation of Shaggy.
  • Colton is distinctly different from previous versions of Shaggy's father. Previous incarnations of him portrayed him as a country farmer, and before that a Coolsville cop. He also looked much closer in physical build to Shaggy in his later years, while more tall and muscular during Shaggy's adolescence. Instead, Paula is the one who resembles Shaggy the most (in the original incarnation both of Shaggy's parents resembled him in their later years).
