The [[Mystery Inc.]] kids were on their way to a school barn dance. They came across a bank guard who was lying on the road knocked out. As he came around he gave [[Fred Jones]] a blank piece of paper and mumbled "The flame will tell the Creeper." As they looked for clues, [[Scooby-Doo]] found a letter with the home address of the bank manager which was near where they were, so they go there for help (not knowing the bank manager was actually the Creeper until they unmasked him). After they left, he understood the message the bank guard was trying to tell the gang. He went after them to get the paper which would show he was the Creeper. This angered the bank manager: "blasted meddling kids!". (''[[Jeepers, It's the Creeper]]'')
