The Dandy Highwayman was the disguise of the Crystal Cove Librarian.

Physical appearance

The Dandy highwayman was dressed in the romanticized manner of English highwaymen from the 17th to 19th centuries. He wore an eggshell blue frock coat and matching mask, belt and tricorn hat, with a green feather. Under that he wore a buttoned white shirt, grey trousers and green boots and cuffs. He also wore a beige ruffle affixed at the collar, and carried two flintlock pistols in his gloved hands.

Interestingly, the color palette of his outfit changed from scene to scene. The eggshell blue he wore when we first see him was later replaced by red, dark blue and grey, while the color of his boots, ruffle and feather did not change.

Personality

Although he appears courteous and attentive to women, which they find attractive, he wears earplugs so he doesn't actually have to listen to them. He is a thief and steals or destroys things owned by those women or their husbands. He also likes to say "stand and deliver".

Librarian unmasked.

The Dandy Highwayman presented himself as a dashing "gentleman of the road". He would rob people, usually on motorbike, and then woo the women by being attentive to their desires, often convincing them to willingly go with him. People he robbed and "kidnapped" included the Tween girl's mom, Daphne Blake and her mother Nan and Janet Nettles. He was caught when the Gang tricked him into trying to rob Angie Dinkley.

Post-Nibiru

When the Evil Entity was destroyed, it altered all of reality for Crystal Cove; thus the Dandy Highwayman wasn't a disguise in the past.

Notes/trivia

• The Dandy Highwayman is the only disguised villain of the series to not be a monster (ghost, demon, alien or any other supernatural being). Except, he may possibly be a living literature character because of the book about his adventures.
• The character was inspired by pop star Adam Ant, who refers to himself as "the Dandy Highwayman", in the hit 1981 Adam And The Ants song, "Stand and Deliver."
• While the Dandy Highwayman isn't the final monster of the day, he's the final villain in Crystal Cove that uses a disguise.
  • Brad Chiles and Judy Reeves use plastic surgery as disguises.
  • The Monstrous Freak only appears in the Dream World.
  • Finally, the gang encounters the Priestess in the Yucatán.
