First appearance TNS&SDS: Scoobygeist

The face in the fireplace was one of the real ghosts in a haunted house.

Physical appearance

It is orange, yellow, and red and is made of fire. It has a face with glaring eyes, a pointed nose, and a large tongue.

It frequently taunts and scares those who stay at the house it haunts, especially those who read the diary of one of the former owners of the house.

The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show

While lighting a fire in the haunted house to keep warm, Daphne Blake reads of a face which appears in fires that are lit in the house from a diary Scooby-Doo found in a dresser. She then heads upstairs with Scrappy-Doo to find a place to sleep, but Scooby-Doo and Shaggy Rogers are still by the fire when the face appears. The face snarls and repeatedly sticks its tongue out at Scooby and Shaggy, who then run upstairs to get away from it.
