Notes/trivia[]
- The title is a pun on fresh artichokes and hummus, which Shaggy likens the taste and texture of to "old paste".
- Shaggy complains about the vegetarian fare served at dinner. Ironically, since his voice actor Casey Kasem was a practicing vegetarian, he became depicted as one in the latter-day TV cartoons.
- There is a very good chance that Annie went to school with Velma to the High school seen on "Friday Night Frights".
Cultural references[]
- The title also alludes to the film Arsenic and Old Lace, with this story also acting as a sequel of sorts, as dialogue depicts Marvin, Melissa, and Anne as descendants of the two bizarre, murderous sisters in the film. The plot of that movie includes a body hidden in a window seat.
