When a robot he supplied to Howard's Department Store mistakenly grabbed Artie the clerk (who accidentally got a sock in his pocket after a fall), Mrs. Howard told Filbert he would not be paid until the robot was working perfectly. This made him a possible suspect to seek revenge against Mrs. Howard with the robot.
