- The Flatbush Falcon was supposed to be a literary creation of deceased writer Archer Hammond, come to life. This is a reference to The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett. The "Archer" may be a reference to another hard-boiled detective, Lew Archer, created by Ross Macdonald.
