That's Avocados.

—George Avocados

George Avocados was a rival mayoral candidate of Crystal Cove who faced incumbent Fred Jones, Sr. in his bid for reelection.

Physical appearance[]

George has black hair with three grey stripes. He also has a small black mustache. He also has a small, cleft chin. He wears a green suit in the colors of an avocado.

Personality[]

As a member of high social and wealthy class, he is very arrogant and vain. He is also somewhat vindictive and petty, holding a grudge against the young Mystery Inc. for exposing his father's criminality and (accidentally) destroying his crops; the latter to the point where he expressed delight in a chance to watch them humiliate themselves to put on a play. Avocados also seems to have no qualms about disrespecting the deceased, as he hid the mummy of Friar Gabriello Serra in a closet just so he could impersonate him. He is also quite greedy due to losing his wealth, going to great lengths to retrieve the diamond that his father had hid long ago.

History[]

Early Life[]

George's father Theodore Avocados was previous mayor of Crystal Cove, until he was caught stealing a diamond from the bank. Before he was arrested, Theodore hid the diamond by disguising it as a crystal doorknob. George claimed his father's innocence ever since.

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated[]

Season one[]

George first encountered the gang at the city hall when Scooby accidently ruined his suit while trying to print pamphlets for the mayor's reelection. For a time he was suspected of driving the Ghost Truck because he bought tires matching the kind on the truck. However, he was later proven to be innocent. Despite this, the investigation also proved his father was a diamond thief, ruining his election chances.[1]

Season two[]

Phantom Mummy unmasked

Avocados unmasked.

He fainted after being attacked and robbed of his "man broach" by the Hodag during Brad Chiles and Judy Reeves "welcome back" party at the Blake Mansion.[2]

After his father was exposed as a diamond thief, George was forced to go into the family business of farming avocadoes. However, Destroido Corp. was ruining his crops with its pollution. This made him a suspect in the Scarebear case, especially when the gang saw him on Destroido's land even though he said earlier that he couldn't. He was later proven innocent again when the Scarebear attacked Destroido's charity ball. However, Fred accidentally flung a bomb that was set by the factory onto his farm, blowing up his crops.[3]

After a failed attempt at fortune telling, he located the diamond his father stole at the Burlington Library. When it was shipped to Crystal Cove for a play, he took a job as a janitor to gain access to the basement where it was stored and dressed as the Mummy of Friar Serra as his cover. Coincidentally, the corpse of the real Gabriello Serra came to life during the rehearsal where he was present. He wasn't too shocked, he just assumed it was the work of Mystery Inc. trying to trick him into revealing himself.[4]

Post-Nibiru[]

When the Evil Entity was destroyed, it altered all of reality for Crystal Cove; meaning the Mummy of Friar Serra wasn't a disguise in the past.[5]

Notes/trivia[]

  • A running gag throughout the show was that all those who encountered him would mispronounce his name as "ah-vo-KAH-dos", which would always lead to him correcting them by saying that it is pronounced as "uh-VOCK-a-dos".
  • Avocados was a suspect in multiple episodes, but was the villain in only one. The closest to this was Gibby Norton who was both a suspect and villain in every episode he appeared in. Of special note, it was the actions of Mystery Inc. in the previous cases that caused his reason to commit his crime.
