Giant Problems is the twentieth episode of season 1 of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!

Premise[]

Daphne travels with the Gang to an ancient Blake family castle in Ireland, which is being further damaged by an angry, rampaging giant. This brings out the knight in Fred, and the Irish in Daphne.

Synopsis[]

Mystery Incorporated travels to Balleyhall Castle, a decrepit castle in Ireland abandoned for centuries but was recently discovered to belong to Daphne's family. However, at the same time as their arrival, a giant cyclops is spotted in the forest, which crushes a man's truck. Local historian Colin McQuaid identifies the giant as Huge McFinn, who chased the Blake family out of the castle centuries ago, and returns to prevent Daphne from reclaiming the property. With this, Fred Jones declares a new mystery.

The gang first encounters the giant in the forest, but notice the giant is unwilling to chase them into a lake. They then investigate its footprints, discovering trace amounts of oil. After researching the castle history, Fred and Daphne explore a secret network of tunnels underneath the castle, encountering vast gold stores guarded by the giant. They reunite with Shaggy, Velma and Scooby as they are chased in the forest, where the giant damages part of the castle while attempting to get away.

After Fred transforms the Mystery Machine into a robotic giant, he begins to battle the giant. Despite overwhelming the vehicle in power, the giant falls into the lake. Revealed to be a very large animatronic, the giant malfunctions and the perpetrator inside the machine is revealed.

The giant is revealed to be McQuaid. McQuaid worked for a company intending to transform the site into an amusement park. However, after discovering the castle belonged to the Blake Family, he fabricated the story of a giant in an attempt to chase the owners away from the property. After McQuaid is handed to authorities, Shaggy and Scooby try traditional Irish cuisine from the castle chef, Salomon.

Quotes[]

Daphne: (speaking with an Irish brogue) Do you really have to wear that ridiculous armor?
Fred: You drop the accent, I drop the armor.
Daphne: What accent?
Fred: What armor?

Daphne: Why don't you just use your flashlight?
Fred: (Holding a flaming torch)
Knights don't use flashlights.
Daphne: They don't wear ascots either!

Velma: That castle withstood 700 years of wars, plagues and storms, and we managed to completely demolish it in 5 hours. That's impressive, even for us!

Colin McQuaid: Actually, everything you said, every single part of it. You got wrong!
Velma: Yeah, yeah. You would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for us meddling, blah, blah, blah. Er, I don't need an interpreter for that part.
Fred: Right, take him away.
Colin McQuaid: No really, my plan was far more ingenious and sinister! Why doesn't anybody pay attention anymore?
