Velma Dinkley ordered the termite because it was a part of her plan to catch the Totem Spirit. It gobbled up most of the wooden costume away, and the Spirit wound up falling into the hole it dug trying to run from the termite. At the end, Scooby-Doo thanked the termite by sharing with it the Indian story stick, which he ate up.
When Mr. Ryan said that he would have succeed it if it weren't for those pesky kids and their puppy, Scooby-Doo points to the termite and Mr. Ryan added: "Oh yeah, and your termite, too."
