Mayhem at the Movies is the second level in the 2004 video game, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem.

Premise[]

The Milton Brothers' movie studio is being haunted by serval real monsters and ghosts. Mystery Inc. comes to investigate however during their investigation a mysterious Red Knight begins attacking them.

Synopsis[]

GC/PS2/Xbox Version[]

At Studio A of the Milton Brothers' movie studio, an unknown movie is being filmed. However as the crew begins filming, the doors to Studio A open to reveal ghosts attacking the set, the crew runs out in horror as Doug runs after them pleading to them to return because it was a good shot according to him. Then Earl jogs backward filming one of the mummies, now exiting Studio A, and once he’s done filming Earl congrats the mummy for doing a good job, and then runs away.

The next day, Mystery Inc. are diving towards the Milton Brothers Movie Studio. Daphne is excited over the fact they're all going to the Milton Brothers Movie Studio and she asks Velma if she thinks they will get to see any movie stars but Velma just ignores her. Daphne gets upset that Velma ignored her and questions why Velma is still reading the Tome of Doom. Velma apologizes and tells her that she hasn’t read anything this interesting since “The Hidden History of Atlantis.” Even Scooby and Shaggy both admit they love the book mainly due to its ghost-sucking abilities, even refusing to let it go even after Velma tells them to. The gang arrives at the Milton Brothers Movie Studio.

When they get there, they see Robert Zabrinski leaving some kind of business meeting with the Milton brothers and he tells them they know where to reach him if they change their mind. Doug runs out declaring he would never sell to Zabrinski. His mood quickly changes as he apologizes to the gang telling them visits are off today and forever. Earl walks behind Doug and tells the gang not to worry since his brother is just a little down since their studio is haunted. Fred introduces the gang as Mystery Inc. to the brothers and tells them they will get rid of their ghost problem. Daphne declares her love for the brothers' films, her favorite being “Gone with the Tin Roof”. Daphne asks for Doug's autograph and he happily signs while bragging about the fact he was almost voted the best director on that one. Doug's mood changes once again and get excited and asks if Earl called the gang. Earl confesses he did since he heard about them from Jimmy over at Sunshine Studio. They explain that it first started in Studio A, but may have already spread to the entire studio by now. When Daphne asks about Zabrinski, Earl explains that he was trying to buy the studio for his company: Greenwood Development. The gang them split up< with Shaggy and Scooby searching Studio A (they quickly rush in when the brothers mention food), Fred and Daphne checking Studio B, and Velma, Doug, and Earl searching the rest of the studio.

After encountering ghosts and poltergeists, Scooby and Shaggy find the backstage key. They use it to go backstage and find the town key and a clue that shows a switch and a number. They use the key to open the door to another movie set where they have to first defeat a ghost to get rid of a force field blocking the way. Past the movie set is a castle set. On the castle set, they find the castle key on a catapult, which flings it onto a wooden platform by a bridge. After getting it, they use it to get to the backstage side of the castle set. This side of the castle has four levers that control the drawbridge, gate, and door. There is another clue that looks like the one from earlier Once they find the right combination with help of the two clues, they go into the castle and find the space set. They push four buttons to ride and crash the fake rocket into a smiling cardboard moon so they can get to the door on the catwalk. After unlocking a door that was locked from the other side, they head to the next movie set, which is based on a graveyard. This scares Scooby before Shaggy reminds him that its just a movie set.

While exploring the graveyard set, Scooby crawls into a tunnel, but it gets blocked off by some rocks. Shaggy; however, quickly appears behind the door leading back into the set and the two reunite after Scooby unlocks it. Scooby and Shaggy continue to explore the mausoleum. They find a button that when pressed, flips over the coffin, revealing the door to the electrical room. When they arrive in the electrical room, they find the place trashed as well as a couple of poltergeists roaming around. Scooby and Shaggy find the poltergeist page in the electrical room and then capture them, removing the force field blocking the exit.

After they escape the electrical room; however, above them is the Red Knight, who grabs Scooby by the collar, hosting him up. By the time Shaggy notices, Scooby is gone; the Red Knight has him in a shack and runs off and Shaggy gives chase. The Red Knight escapes with Scooby into Studio B. Earl and Velma run up to Shaggy and ask him about the Red Knight. Shaggy tells them about it kidnapped Scooby.

Earl films Shaggy as he looks for Scooby in Studio B. Within the roman coliseum set, Shaggy finds both Daphne and Scooby locked up in the roman set within the coliseum. Daphne suggests using the crane attached to Scooby’s cage to get him free. Shaggy finds the cage key on a catapult, but it flings it over by the bridges. After pushing some archways back in place, Shaggy uses a wrecking ball to knock over a column, which causes a domino effect leading to them all falling down. Earl worries over how Dou will react to that. The sound of the impact wakes up some of the nearby mummies in their sarcophagi. But Shaggy uses the destroyed column to get up to the archways and finds the controls to the crane, but it's missing a fuse and a gear. When he enters the roman boat set and gets onto the boat, by repairing the bridge after finding its value handle, he pushes a button which moves it to the other side, moving a crate blocking a ladder. Now he can climb up onto the ship's mast and go onto the catwalk. After pushing a button to extend a bridge, Shaggy finds the fuse on top of the catwalk. While on the Egyptian set, Shaggy pulls a lever in order to open a door; however, this also causes a boulder to roll down at him and so he runs into the door, which causes the boulder to roll in and block his exit. Within that room, Shaggy finds a gear on a sarcophagus; however, when he grabs it, the pedestal slower lowers down and various death traps activate and the mummies awaken. On the bridge of the Egyptian desert set, Shaggy finds the mummy page. After defeating the mummies, evading the traps, and crossing a lava pit, he makes his way back to the roman coliseum set.

Shaggy uses the crane after repairing it and saves Scooby and they reunite. Daphne asks them to get her out of the cage. However, the Red Knight walks toward Shaggy and Scooby and attempts to attack them with his sword; however, they run away and a tiny mini chase happens. The chase ends when the duo lures the Red Knight onto a catapult and launches him at the bridge despite his protests, making him drop his sword, and causing the bridge to collapse. A helmetless Red Knight runs away. Scooby sniffs around and finds the Red Knight’s helmet. Scooby goes under the bridges and finds the cage key. Scooby and Shaggy free Daphne. Earl sees that they are finished and runs over. Daphne says they should find the others and Earl joins but before he does he tells Shaggy and Scooby to take care of the mummies right behind them. After they defeat the mummies, they reunite with the gang.

Earl told the rest of the gang about their recuse which he got on tape. When Velma asks if they found any clues, Scooby gives her the Red Knight’s helmet which proves to the gang that the Knight is a phony. Fred tells everyone that Doug has gone missing. Shaggy tells Velma they found more pages from the Tome of Doom, which leads Velma to figure out there's a link to the library case. Fred tells everyone he has a plan.

Everyone goes to Studio A and Fred repeats his plan to Scooby and Shaggy. Fred's plan is the following, Shaggy and Scooby trick the Knight into chasing then Fred opens the draw bridge and after that Scooby and Shaggy lure the Red Knight to the moon set where Daphne, Velma, and Earl will do the rest. Shaggy is nervous, but Fred reminds him that the monster is fake.

Boss fight[]

Scooby and Shaggy find the Red Knight, who’s now wearing a box over his head. During this boss fight, the Knight will chase Scooby and Shaggy and scare them, and if he does this, it will instantly drain their health bars to zero, sending them into their panic states, but he will get tried and take a breath at times. Daphne and Velma toss boxes at the Red Knight to deal damage to him at certain times; however, this does not affect how this boss works since the player needs to run around the set 3 times in order to defeat him. The reason why is because Fred fails to open the drawbridge until the last lap is over. But in the end, Fred finally lowers the drawbridge so Scooby and Shaggy can lure the Red knight into a trap.

Ending[]

The Red Knight is lured by Shaggy and Scooby into the moon set and once the Knight is under the net, Earl blinds him with lights and Velma and Daphne pull up the net, trapping the Red Knight. Everyone groups up and Fred unmasks the Red Knight to be Robert Zabrinski. Velma explains that Walter Peabody must have given pages of the Tome of Doom to Robert so he could use it to scare away the cast and crew, forcing the brothers to sell. Velma figured it out mainly because of the helmet the Red Knight wore because its oversized shape was perfect for the image continuous Zabrinski since he could wear it without messing up his hair. Earl wonders where his brother is, but then Doug reveals himself from an unknown location wrapped in bandages. Doug explains that Zabrinski ambushed him and stuffed him in one of their mummy movie costumes. Doug compliments the gang detective skills and offers them movie roles and a writing job for Velma such as a damsel in distress role for Daphne and for Scooby and Shaggy, he gives them special jobs. Doug directs a scene for some movie, presumably the roman theme film he’s working on, where Shaggy and Scooby are fed fruits by various women.

Doug shouts at Zabrinski to get out and Zabrinski tells them to call him if they change their minds and leave. Doug’s mood quickly changes as he apologizes to the gang telling them visits are off today and forever. Earl tells the gang not to worry since his brother is just a little down since their studio is haunted. Fred introduces the gang as mystery inc to the brothers and tells them they will get rid of their ghost problem. Doug's mood changes once again and gets excited and asks if Earl called the gang Earl confesses he did since he heard about them from Jimmy over at sunshine studios. Doug explains the hauntings began at Studio A but they have spread all across the lot by now. Daphne asks about Zabrinski to which Earl introduces him as an agent at Greenwood development whos been trying to get them to sell. Fred tells the gang to split up and Shaggy just hopes to find some food while investigating.

During the level, Scooby and Shaggy find serval switches that they have to pull in order to open gates or move platforms. The duo finds pages of the Tome of Doom on the floor making the Tome of Doom have more energy. Scooby and Shaggy find a megaphone that lets Scooby stuns monsters. When they encounter a tunnel Shaggy asks for Scooby to crawl in it since there might be food in there and Scooby agrees. However, after exploring this new area for a bit Shaggy gets attacked by the Red Knight and Shaggy cries out begging for Scooby to save him. Scooby finds both Shaggy and Daphne locked up in a cage. Daphne tells him if he were to put something heavy on a nearby platform. It might lift the cage and free them. Scooby finds an odd-looking mummy inside a cage. Scooby finds serval levers and when pulled they close a platform and cause a boulder to roll down serval ramps. Eventually, two boulders fall onto the platform lifting up the cage and freeing Daphne and Shaggy.

Shaggy and Scooby reunite however, the Red Knight appears somewhere walking around but Daphne gets the idea to use some of the boulders to get rid of him. Shaggy and Scooby pull one more lever which causes a boulder to fall down serval ramps and knock into the other boulders. One of the boulders falls down and rolls at the Red Knight causing him to drop a receipt. Shaggy and Scooby give Velma the clue and she tells them that the Red Knight ran through a nearby door and the dou follow him. They find a red key that allows them to open the door to the haunted castle set where the Red Knight is lurking around. They find some broken elevators which require wrenches in order to fix them.

After giving some clues to Velma the gang regroups. Fred asks if anyone else found anything. Earl tells them his brother has gone missing. Daphne found more pages of the Tome of Doom which leads Velma to figure out there's a link to the library case. Shaggy gives Velma the brochure he found about Gold Mountian Western Theme Park. Velma says she solved the case and all they need to do is capture the Red Knight. Fred tells Velma that he has a plan and he’ll need Earls's help.

Fred tells Scooby and Shaggy the plan which is Daphne is standing guard waiting to warn them when the Red Knight arrives. But before Fred can explain the rest of his plan the Red Knight appears behind them. Fred tells them to get into the cart and lead him into the main stage. Scooby, Shaggy, and Fred ride in a cart to get to the main stage while the Red Knight follows them in his own cart. When they arrive at the main stage Fred tells Scooby and Shaggy he’ll hide and lock the door behind the Red Knight and all they will need to do is activate the right switches which should activate the spotlights blinding the Red Knight which would allow the gang to capture him. The Red Knight appears and gets out of his cart.

Boss fight[]

Scooby and Shaggy have to activate various switches to get the trap ready so they can blind the Red Knight. While they do this various ghosts will try to attack them meanwhile the Red Knight runs around on the bottom of the map. Eventually Shaggy and Scooby activate the lights blinding the Red Knight. Fred tells Shaggy and Scooby to tie him up.

Ending[]

The gang unmasks the Red Knight to be Robert Zabrinski. Velma explains that Walter Peabody must have given pages of The Tome of Doom to Robert so he could use it to scare away the cast and crew forcing the brothers to sell. Velma explains she figured it out when Shaggy gave her a receipt for expensive men’s cologne, which was dropped by the Red Knight because only an image-conscious man like Zabrinski would wear it according to Velma. Velma also mentions the business card that smelled like cologne with the logo of GD which to Velma could only mean in this case Greenwood Development. Earl wonders where his brother is but then Doug reveals himself from an unknown location but he’s currently wearing a mummy costume. Doug explains that after he saw Zabrinski dressing up as the Red Knight, Zabrinski spotted him, knocked him out, and stuffed him in bandages. Earl asks the gang how he could repay them but Fred says a good deed is its own reward however Shaggy says a good eat is its own reward.

Shaggy: And, like, is that supposed to make me less scared? Who goes running around in a suit of armor?
