He was a Crypts and Creatures player, but eventually grew out of it much like the other players, apart from Horbert Feist who had grown bitter and revengeful after losing one game to Bronson Stone's Dreamweaver creation.

Dreamweaver had apparently come to life and invaded Melvin's dream and told him through a dice command to destroy his mansion.
It was revealed that it was childhood friend, Horbert, who vowed to take away what Melvin loved (his mansion) by using a dream machine he built to manipulate him into destroying his own mansion.
