When the gang were forced into his world by Demondo, they entered the diner owned by Platypus Duck.  As a result, they got help from him to find their way back to the real world that Demondo had hidden in the funny papers.  While the Gang escaped, Demondo got trapped in the Chest of Demons.  The Gang worried that Platypus Duck and the other cartoon characters they met were also trapped, but they had escaped and now lived in the real world.

Notes/trivia[]

  • His cartoonist is credited as Tom Ruegger, the real-life writer of the episode and creator of the character.
  • The character first appeared in a 1976 student film called The Premiere of Platypus Duck that Ruegger made when he was at Dartmouth College. His design is different from this one in that he's brown with more cartoony eyes, & orange beaks, & legs.
  • The Platypus is a native Australian animal. While it is also known as the "Duck-Billed Platypus" and is semi-aquatic, it is not related to ducks. It belongs to the branch of mammals known as a monotremes, meaning it lays eggs but also suckles its young.
