T.J. Buzby is a criminal who dons multiple disguises, including of his own good twin brother, Sheriff Rufus Buzby, the Skull Ghost, and Beauregard's Ghost.

Physical appearance[]

T.J. is a heavyset middle-aged man, with thick, black eyebrows. He looks exactly like his brother, Rufus, except that he has no mustache. When impersonating his twin, he wears an all-brown sheriff uniform, with a black tie, a golden badge, brown sheriff hat with a black trim, and donning a pair of thin, framed glasses.

Personality[]

Buzby is not a hospitable man. He appears to be stingy, ill-tempered, and really desperate. He is also very shrewd as he set traps around the plantation to slow the gang down and has knowledge of police procedures, as he managed to fool people into thinking he was his brother, even able to do a traffic stop.

Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers[]

T.J

T.J. unmasked.

T.J. Buzby knew about the secret fortune hidden in the Beauregard Plantation, and waited for the perfect opportunity to find out for himself. As his brother, Rufus Buzby, had to be off-duty for a while because of a cold, T.J impersonated him to pretend he was trying to catch an escaped gorilla so he would have a reason to be around the mansion.

During this time, he also dressed up as several ghosts to scare Shaggy Rogers, Scooby-Doo, and Scrappy-Doo. However, during his search for the fortune, he fall victim to some mishap cause by Shaggy, Scooby, Scrappy, Billy-Bob Scroggins, and even his own. Later, he spotted Scooby-Doo riding the Mechanical Horse and told him to pushed the button which gave Shaggy's suspicions of him. Eventually, he learned that the fortune was held in the fireplace and beat the group back to it, but just as the gang caught up with him, he lost his patience and pointed a gun at them.

However, just as he was about to steal it, ironically, the treasure then came flowing out of the fireplace, piling on top of him and trapping him. He was unmasked, and his brother, the real sheriff, then arrived and explained everything to the three. T.J. was then carried off by his brother into custody.

Quotes[]

T. J. Buzby: I knew this treasure was here, I knew it!!!

Notes/trivia[]

  • Buzby dons the personas of at least three different ghosts in addition to his brother during his scheme.
  • There are several hints throughout the film which shows T.J. being the primary suspect. Most notably, his shadow (which is often depicted as a figure wearing a sheriff's uniform) can briefly be seen when the gang is either reading a clue they just found, or when they are searching for their next clue.
