Premise[]

The Gold Mountain western theme park is in danger of closing down due to recent hauntings and strange beings running about.

Synopsis[]

GC/PS2/Xbox Version[]

Selena Drake is calling somebody telling them to stay where they are and wait for further instructions before hanging up. Selena tells Sherman that Zabrinski has been arrested. Sherman calls Zabrinski a fool before asking about Peabody. Peabody according to Selena hasn’t told the police anything. Travis then says to move on with their plan.

Mystery Inc. are diving to Gold Mountain a western theme park. Shaggy and Scooby are quite excited to eat some western food. Velma tells the gang that Zabrinski was also trying to buy Gold Mountain. Daphne guesses correctly the theme park is being haunted by ghosts and Velma confirms this fact saying this must mean somebody there has pages from the Tome of Doom. Shaggy and Scooby want to head back until Velma reminds them of the western-themed barbeque.

The gang walks up to Johnny Channayaptra who introduces himself and welcomes them to Gold Mountain. Daphne comments on how Gold Mountain is a ghost town which sends Johnny into a rage. Fred offers to help get rid of his ghost problem to which Johnny happily accepts saying how he put all his savings into Gold Mountain. Daphne asks about the employees to which Johnny answers saying all of them were scared off but one: Mindi Stiles. Mindi walks towards the group and Johnny introduces her and tells them she does bit parts in the wild west show as well as being security chief, accountant, marketing manager, and chef. Mindi tells Johnny he needs to sign some insurance papers. Frustrated with this paperwork, Johnny tells the gang they're free to explore. Fred tells the gang to split up and look for clues and tells Shaggy and Scooby to investigate the hotel.

Shaggy and Scooby enter the hotel and after defeating some poltergeists, find the dining hall, which has food scattered everywhere and both of them want all the food for themselves, so both of them race to eat it all. A minigame happens where food will spawn around the dining hall and whoever eats the most wins; they both have to burp occasionally in order not to slow down. After that minigame, they both leave the dining hall. A stuffed Shaggy spots some barbeque sauce and walks after it before falling through the floor.

Unable to reach the stairs to the basement, Scooby then enters a hallway where a mysterious woman is lurking around and he decides to follow her. However, each time he goes through a door, various monsters will run with her to try to confuse the player in the panic. If Scooby guesses wrong a monster will scare him; however, if he guesses correctly once again, the mysterious women will run around with various monsters as each one goes through a separate door. Each time this happens, everyone will run faster. Around the fifth time, however, Scooby will go to the other side of the hotel lobby where he can now reach the basement. In the basement, Scooby finds a lantern to light up the dark basement; if Scooby walks into the dark, this will result in instant death, and he can use cans of fuel to recharge the power of the lamp which will slowly go down when it's used. Scooby finds Shaggy in the basement and they both leave through the exit. They arrive in a saloon with a self-playing piano with a musical combination lock. They find the first clue to the puzzle.

When they arrive outside, Scooby and Shaggy encounter a dust devil. Behind some boxes and barrels, Scooby, by crawling under the barrels, can find a bottle of liquid soap. Scooby and Shaggy go into the sheriff's station and find Fred locked inside a cell. Fred spots them and excitedly runs towards the bars. When Shaggy asks what happened Fred explains while he was investigating the cell, the mysterious woman locked the door behind him. Daphne went to find Johnny but according to Fred, she’s been gone for a while (presumed to have been caught by the woman). Fred suggests they unblock the hole in his cell to help him escape. The second clue for the piano puzzle is located here. Shaggy uses liquid soap to loosen the boxes blocking the hole in Fred’s cell on the other side. They then push the boxes, freeing Fred. Fred thanks them and gives them the bank key he found in the cell, but tells them about another one that he can' reach. Fred tells them he’s gonna look for Daphne before running off.

Scooby and Shaggy enter the bank and Shaggy notices someone has dug around the safe inside a vault trying to break in. Scooby thinks it's Scooby Snacks and Shaggy agrees with him and they agree they need to break into the safe. Finding the last clue for the piano puzzle, Scooby and Shaggy go back to the saloon now knowing the combination. Once the correct combination is played, the piano throws out the mine cart key. They use it to go by the mines and grab a saw. They use the saw back at the jail to cut through some bars to get to the cell containing the vault key. After unlocking the bank vault, Scooby grabs a shovel in the vault. Scooby and Shaggy use it to dig into the mine.

Scooby and Shaggy walk into the mine where they find a bunch of mine carts most likely for some kind of ride. They then smell food inside one of the carts and quickly dive into it eating the food inside. The mysterious woman pulls a lever in the control room which causes the mine cart to move. The mine cart mini-game works as follows: you can tilt the mine cart left or right and can also make the mine cart jump and crouch. The goal of this mini-game is to collect as many gold nuggets as possible while surviving. Scooby and Shaggy escape the mines and enter the school where Scooby finds a wig with a key inside. The combination to the vault is written on the blackboard. There is also a surveillance system in the school. Using the key to unlock the school doors. Scooby uses the combination to open the safe in the bank and acquire the dust devil page. Scooby and Shaggy capture all the dust devils roaming around main street. Velma gets out of hiding. Shaggy shows Velma the wig and explains they found it and other costumes at the school. Velma says they should find the others at the hotel.

Scooby, Shaggy, and Velma begin taking the shortcut to the hotel, using the train cars, where they spot a massive dust devil on top of a carousel, causing it to spin out of control. Fred, Daphne, and Johnny are hanging onto this carousel while it rapidly spins. Shaggy decides they should put an end to these windbags.

Boss fight[]

Scooby and Shaggy have to suck up the dust devils the giant dust devil summons to weaken it. The giant dust devil sends out 2 dust devils at a time. During this fight, the carousel will spit out projectiles, spit wisps, and Scooby Snacks. After they capture about 6 dust devils, the giant dust devil comes down and Scooby and Shaggy have to suck up one last dust devil.

Ending[]

Scooby and Shaggy suck up the giant dust devil to reveal that the mysterious woman was inside it. Fred, Daphne, and Johnny thank Scooby and Shaggy for saving them. Fred unmasks the mysterious woman to be Mindi Stiles. Johnny feels betrayed by this reveal. Velma became suspicious when Shaggy told her about the costumes hidden in the school because, when she went there herself she found papers for Greenwood Development, proving that she was working with Peabody and Zabrinski. Velma thought the most likely person to be using the costumes would be the last remaining employee. Shaggy deduces that she’s the one who lures them with food into the mine cart. Shaggy and Scooby hope they get a free lunch for doing all of this Johnny agrees until he remembers that Mindi had the keys to the food locker. Shaggy and Scooby chase after the police car taking Mindi to jail.
