The Ghost Clown was the disguise of Harry the Hypnotist.
Physical appearance
The Ghost Clown has the appearance of a stereotype clown; a silly costume, and lots of make-up on his face. What separates him from a normal clown, is the evil grim on his face.
Personality
During the episode, the Ghost Clown thinks that he's in complete control. He likes to tell grim jokes; when for example Scooby is hanging in the air on a pair of balloons, the Ghost Clown makes the joke "All what goes up, must come down". Usually such sentences are followed by an evil laugh. The Ghost Clown always tries to stay one step ahead of the gang.
Powers and abilities
Since Harry the Hypnotist is capable of hypnotizing (of course), the Ghost Clown has the same ability. He uses this ability to bring several members of the gang including Daphne Blake and Shaggy Rogers in dangerous acts and environments. The Ghost Clown seems to be popping up all over the Circus Terrain, and he has a lot of nasty objects (like dart arrows) in his pockets.
History
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
Season one
The Ghost Clown hypnotized Scooby-Doo, Daphne Blake and Shaggy Rogers, respectively, in to doing dangerous acts in Mr. Barnstorm's circus, causing mayhem. He went against the circus because he was sent to prison after he was caught stealing at the circus.
During this he got hypnotized himself into believing he was a chimpanzee by Shaggy and Scooby using his gold coin and two mirrors while the duo kept their eyes closed.
