The Man-Crab was the disguise of Bud Shelton.

Physical appearance[]

The Man-Crab was a monster resembling a giant red crab. Unlike true crabs, which are decapods, the Man-Crab has eight legs, two of which are pincers functioning as arms. The Man-Crab also features a scaled abdomen, green eyes, and fangs.

Personality[]

The Man-Crab was a terrifying creature that makes high-pitched screeching noises to intimidate its victims. It attacked its victims on the beach, specifically targeting young attractive females.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Burrowing: The Man-Crab can easily burrow in the sand, which allows him to hide underground prior to attacking its victims. This also allows him to kidnap victims by pulling them underground. In reality, these tunnels are connected to a large, underground cave where Shelton had used to build a hideout.
  • Slicing: The Man-Crab has sharp pincers and legs, which can easily slice through fabric and nets.
  • Strength: The Man-Crab possesses great physical strength, which he uses to crash through surfaces with ease. This brute strength is mostly achieved through the costume, which was built with robotic parts.
  • Agility: The Man-Crab also has inhuman agility, which allows him to climb buildings and leap into the air.

History[]

Early life[]

Inventor Bud Shelton created the sports drink "Bud's Bloosh." However, he found that businessman Peter Trickell would steal credit for his invention, renaming the brand to "Trickell's Trickquid" and making Shelton a mere mascot for the brand. Shelton found that the brand would be sponsoring a girl's volleyball match at the beach, so, as an act of revenge, Shelton created the Man-Crab disguise. He built a robotic costume, then created a system of trapdoors and tunnels under the beach connected to the Crystal Cove caves.

During the volleyball tournament, the Man-Crab kidnapped many young women, including Mystery Inc. member Daphne Blake. After being led to the caves by the mysterious Mr. E, the remaining members of Mystery Inc. found and rescued the missing women, only to be attacked by the Man-Crab.

The Man-Crab was caught after chasing members Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo and falling into a trap created by Fred Jones, Jr. His identity was revealed as Bud Shelton and he was handed over to the authorities.[1]
