Mark of the Scarab! is a story in Scooby-Doo... Mystery Comics #24
Jerry Sloane, creator of the comic-book character Blue Scarab, is threatened by his own creation come to life.
After nearly destroying Professor Finster's lab, Shaggy takes a job working for Jerry Sloane, creator of the Blue Scarab Comic books. Later that evening, Sloane finds himself face-to-face with the Blue Scarab himself, who threatens Sloane and gives him a powerful electric shock.
The next morning, Sloane is recuperating -- but still working on his comic book pages. Shaggy, Scooby and the gang take the finished pages to the editor's office, where another writer, Harry, disparages Sloane's work to the editor.
Later, Sloane is still working in bed. The Blue Scarab appears and threatens Sloane again. Shaggy, Scooby and Murray come running, but the Scarab escapes out the window -- ten stories up -- before they arrive. Scooby finds a stick pin and Shaggy realizes the Scarab dropped it. The Scarab tries to get the pin back from Shaggy and Scooby, but Fred arrives in time to throw a bucket of water on the Scarab, short-circuiting his electric shock device.
