The Mayor's voice coming from the radio.
He wanted to know where Buzby was and what progress he was making on the escaped ape case. The criminal Buzby rudely answered "Who wants to know?" and got very flustered when he found out it was the Mayor. His brother, the real sheriff, would no doubt have recognized the voice, so Buzby started babbling to cover his mistake.[1]
