The pieces of the Planispheric Disk are triangular pizza slice shaped objects that may be a key to finding the cursed treasure of the conquistadors.

History

Early history

Before the founding of Crystal Cove the Spanish Conquistadors who made the Planispheric Disk used it to find six different locations. Then they broke the disk up into 6 pieces and hid it in the six different locations making it seemingly impossible to find it without the completed disk.

Prior to the Series start The Original Mystery Incorporated contacted Crystal Cove historian Fred Jones (later Fred Jones Senior) to help them locate the Disk.

Fred made a pact with their mascot animal Professor Pericles to help locate what they thought was a complete disk then betray the rest of Mystery Incorporated. Instead of the completed Planispheric Disk they only found one piece. After narrowly escaping the booby trapped cave Pericles and Fred confronted the gang and blackmailed them to hand over the Disk Piece then leave Crystal Cove forever.

The Darrow family also found one. But consumed with greed they constantly fought over it. The youngest member of the family Danny Darrow got the piece away from the rest of his family on a halloween night 50 years ago, just as an earthquake struck that swallowed up their home underground. Danny's family spent the rest of their lives fighting over it until only Danny himself was left.

The pieces fit together like a circular jigsaw puzzle in the order: 1, 4, 3, 2, 5, 6.

Piece #1

Planispheric Disk piece 1

Piece one, seen from the back side

This piece is one of two marked with a circle. It has a single triangle point on its right side, and an edge with square tooth-shapes on its left.

This piece initially appeared under the ownership of Fred Jones, Sr., who kept it in his safe. It was then stolen by Professor Pericles. In All Fear The Freak, the original Mystery Incorporated was shown finding this piece in the Crystal Cove Caves, after which the Freak of Crystal Cove stole it from them.

At the end of the episode All Fear The Freak, it was shown to be held by Pericles, following his earlier theft of it. Marcie Fleach eventually stole it from him and handed it over to the new Mystery Incorporated in Wrath of the Krampus. They had to give it back to Pericles under a threat to Daphne's life.

Piece #2

Planispheric Disk piece 2

Piece two

This piece is the second one marked with a circle. It has square tooth-shapes on its right and two small triangular points on its left.

This piece was found by the Darrow Family, but Danny Darrow eventually gave it to the new Mystery Incorporated when he realized the desire to keep it had wasted his life. Later, while studying it, Velma discovered the Spanish word "Fuego", meaning "Fire", on the piece.

In Pawn Of Shadows, Angel Dynamite/Cassidy Williams told the gang they could get out of danger and forget about the mystery if they gave their piece to either Professor Pericles or Mr. E, but was rebuffed. The piece was subsequently stolen by Professor Pericles in All Fear the Freak, and stolen back by Marcie in Wrath of the Krampus, returning it to the gang. They had to give it back to Pericles under a threat to Daphne's life.

Piece #3

Planispheric disk piece 3

Piece 3

This piece is one of two marked with a triangle, and it has two triangular indentations on its right side and a rounded extension plus one square tooth shape pointing out and one pointing in on its left side.

A third piece was tracked down by Velma and Marcie in Russia, on orders from Mr. E. It was hidden in a chest in the House of Baba Yaga exhibit. When the girls failed to steal it Mr. E had it organized that the exhibit was shipped to Crystal Cove. Velma betrayed Mr. E and handed the piece over to Fred. The gang had to give it to Pericles under a threat to Daphne's life.

Piece #4

Planespheric disk piece 4

Piece 4

This piece is one of two marked with a "U" shape and it has a circular indentation on its right, along with one tooth-shape pointing out and one pointing in. On the left it has a triangular indentation.

Piece four was one of two originally located by the Fraternitas Mysterium, given to them by a distraught conquistador who resembled Fernando El Aguirre. The piece would later corrupt Porto, the group's donkey. The evil force made Porto blow up Crystal Cove which caused half of the town to sink into the sea. In an attempt to rid of the piece, Friar Serra hid the piece in a wheel of unsolidified cheese, which subsequently hardened and eventually came into the possession of a traveling curio exhibit by the time it was 500 years old. The cheese was cracked during the scuffle with the Hodag of Horror, leading to the modern Mystery Incorporated discovering it. Unlike the other three pieces it glowed an eerie golden light. According to the curio owner, George Shepherd, it "told" him to bring the exhibit to Crystal Cove. (No doubt it was actually the Evil Entity that told him).

The gang had to give it to Pericles under a threat to Daphne's life.

Piece #5

Piece 5

This piece is the second one marked with a "U" shape and it has a triangular indentation on its right and square tooth-shaped indentations on its left.

The fifth piece was found hidden in the old Conquistador's ship on Mount Diabla, where Marcie, disguised as the Dark Lilith, tricked Fred and the others into bypassing the traps and retrieving it for her, on orders from Mr. E. She held it briefly, but finally decided to hand it over to Velma. The gang had to give it to Pericles under a threat to Daphne's life.

Piece #6

Planespheric disk piece 6

Piece 6

This piece is the second one marked with a triangle. It has square tooth-shaped indentations on the right and a triangular point on the left.

The sixth piece was found in the sunken ruins of the old town of Crystal Cove.

Frau Abigail Gluck, a member of another mystery-solving group, sought this piece in the 1930s. In modern times, Pericles finally recovered it, using Gluck's equipment. Marcie subsequently stole it from him, along with his other two pieces, in Wrath of the Krampus, and turned it over to the second Mystery Incorporated. The gang had to give it back to Pericles under a threat to Daphne's life.
