The Pterodactyl Ghost was the disguise of Johnny, used to terrorize a hang gliding contest.

It was a humanoid pterodactyl with a muscular body, green skin or scales, yellow wings, red eyes with yellow sclera, long green hands, a long, orange beak, long legs, webbed feet, and sharp talons.

Personality[]

The Pterodactyl Ghost does not have much of a personality, as it is meant to be a vicious ghostly monster that intends to eat/destroy all those in its path. The Pterodactyl Ghost can not speak, but screeches loudly to frighten people.

Powers and abilities[]

The Pteradactyl Ghost could glide through the air by spreading its wings out like a hang glider.

Appearances[]

Notes/trivia[]

  • The Pterodactyl Ghost's shrieks are the same as those of the Vulture from The New Scooby-Doo Movies episode, Wednesday is Missing.
  • The Pterodactyl Ghost was featured as a prominent monster in the live action movie Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. The creature had a much different appearance though; to make a few differences, it's 'beak' is now white, it has a larger crest, and a tail.
  • In SD2, the crook wearing the Pterodactyl Ghost costume is a mad scientist named Jonathan Jacobo. The perpetrator in the Scooby Doo Show was simply named 'Johnny'. Jacobo's character was likely named after Johnny.
  • In both incarnations of the Pterodactyl Ghost (animated and live action), the monster strangely has a humanoid body shape, despite real pterosaurs having a less than human body structure, including short legs and long necks. Then again, the monster isn't a real pterodactyl, and is heavily implied to have evolved into a humanoid creature in the legend.
  • In the DS/PS2/GBA/Xbox/GC video game, Scooby-Doo! Unmasked, the Pterodactyl Ghost is a recurring enemy in the Prehistoric and Aquarium areas of Harum Scare'em at the Museum, he has the ability to breath fire out of his beak. In the final level, he's the boss.
    • The Pterodactyl in Scooby-Doo Unmasked is a robot that is modelled on the appearance of the Pterodactyl Ghost.
