The puppet master was the disguise of Pietro, creating mayhem at the Strand Theatre, to scare people away from his counterfeiting operation.

Physical appearance[]

Pietro's face mask made it look like he had pale-grayish skin and yellow sclera. He wore a black cavalier hat, a dark-gray cloak, with a high collar, which is red inside. He also wore dress shoes, which matched the outside of his cloak. He wore plain black pants and a plain black shirt, which were mostly covered by his cloak, and gray gloves.

Personality[]

He was portrayed as a typical villain; giving chase and laughing like a maniac when discovered.

Powers and abilities[]

He could make himself look like a real phantom by making himself vanish when the lights went out.

He could also manipulate life-sized puppets.

History[]

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You![]

Season one[]

When the gang got involved, the puppet master set out to get rid of them. He tried to kill them twice first by dropping one of the sets on Shaggy Rogers but went right through the hole. The Puppet Master then cut a rope holding a bag of salt in attempt to crush both Daphne Blake and Velma Dinkley but missed. While Shaggy and Scooby-Doo were putting on costumes, Shaggy put on a costume that look like his, then Scooby spotted the Puppet Master, only for him to disappeared and informed Shaggy that he saw someone dressed like him. Velma later spotted him hiding under the basement, while in the basement, Scooby and the gang spotted him playing the piano, but when the lights switch off and then on, he disappeared. He then tried to scare them using puppets of both a Viking and a Pirate. He then later used a bird puppet to steal back the counterfeit dollar.

Pietro is arrested.

When Mystery Inc found his secret room that was underneath the stage where he was printing his counterfeits, he appeared in the room and chased after them. Scooby and the gang reach the top of the floor on the tried to trap them in a trap door, but the gang escaped. He tried to scare them using the Viking and Pirate puppets from earlier, but Scooby spotted him on the Catwalk, causing him to run. Scooby chased after him and cornered him on a rope, Fred then pulls another rope, causing the Puppet Master to fall into their trap. Eventually, the gang captured Pietro.

Notes/trivia[]

  • He doesn't have a proper name, just several given descriptions from what he looks like.
  • He evokes the titular character, Erik from the 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux.
  • It's obvious that it's Pietro in disguise, as the phantom's voice almost sounds similar to Pietro's voice.
