Notes/trivia
- Fred Jr.'s idolization of Rick is similar to the original Fred's own idolization of Melbourne O'Reilly from What's New, Scooby-Doo?.
- He has a quasi-resemblance to Bruce from the Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get A Clue! episode, Don't Feed The Animals.
- The character is based Doc Savage ("Doc" Spartan...), especially the film version starring Ron Ely (the character is drawn wearing the same outfit worn by Ely in the film). The Doc Savage adventures, in turn, inspired Indiana Jones.
- The credits mistakingly list him as "Nick Spartan".
