Background in other media
Riddler (real name Edward Nygma) is one of Batman's long-standing and major adversaries. He was originally conceived as a comic-book character by writer, Bill Finger, and artist, Dick Sprang, for DC Comics. He first appeared in Detective Comics #140 (October 1948).
His first animated appearance was in the The Adventures of Batman segments of the Filmation-produced, The Batman/Superman Hour, which were later repackaged as Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder. He was voiced by Ted Knight. He also appeared in Hanna-Barbera's Challenge of the Super Friends, voiced by Michael Bell.
- ↑ This is conjecture based on his appearance in the DC Universe. He's identified as male in a cameo in Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #2.
- Riddler at SuperFriends Wikia. The Super Friends series and The New Scooby-Doo Movies were both produced by Hanna-Barbera. Their connection beyond sharing the same studio, if any, is unknown.
