Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics were a famous ska band thirty years before the present day. At that time, they had one hit, Graveyard Ska Inc., and were managed by Ian Hope.

Physical appearance[]

Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics wore causal suits some accessorizing with ties and pork-pie hats.

Personality[]

Rude Boy was obsessed by the fame he was unable to achieve. He was said to have turned to voodoo to further his career. He was rumored to have thrown love spells on his audience, curse other bands and place an enchantment of everlasting pain on a synthesizer. The band was very determined, willing to work on the perfect song for 30 years.

History[]

Early life[]

Decades before the present day, Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics were known as a talent group; their music combined Caribbean mento with calypso and American jazz with rhythm and blues. They only released one hit song, Graveyard Ska Inc., but Rude Boy became dissatisfied with the lack of popularity he received. So, he made use of "voodoo magic" during his performances in order to further their career, such as casting love potions on their audience, curses other bands, and a never-ending pain spell on a synthesizer. He then vowed to return from the dead.

Thirty years before the present day, Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics faked their own deaths to give themselves enough time to write a second song and make a comeback. They jumped out of an airplane with a parachute, landing safely while the plane crashed into a forest. Their general public believed they were killed in the crash, while they were in reality working on the song. They planned to only be gone one year, but writing the "perfect song" took much longer than expected, and by the time they did, the entire genre of ska declined greatly in popularity.

Ska-tastics

Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics in disguise.

To ensure a successful comeback as musicians, Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics disguised themselves as their own zombies, given Crystal Cove's interest in monsters and the undead. They were first seen attacking reporter Krissy Kristy and manager Ian Hope at a graveyard, and later the Tiki Tub, where they played their song for the first time. Their song, Yer Dead Right, Mate, contained a particular frequency with a hypnotic ability, inducing a zombie-like trance on all the guests and causing them to dance uncontrollably. The guests, which were unable to break free from their trance, were hospitalized. They also kidnapped the Tiki Tub's singer Trini Lee.

The band then moved to a rooftop, where they played the song in front of the townspeople. Many people, including Fred, Velma and Daphne, were hypnotized by the song, though Shaggy and Scooby, being tone-deaf, were immune to the song's effects. The band was, however, defeated after a second band, the Hex Girls, played a different song, Good Bad Girls, which reversed the song's effects. The band was subdued by the song's effects, exposed for their crimes, and handed over to authorities.

Post-Nibiru[]

When the Evil Entity was destroyed, it altered all of reality for Crystal Cove, erasing the band's crimes as their zombies from existences.

Notes/trivia[]

  • Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics are the only villains in the series to dress like monster versions of themselves.
  • Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics are based on the 70's British Ska band The Specials.
  • Ian Hope described the band's death in a plane crash as "the night that ska died." This is a reference to "the day the music died" on February 3, 1959, when rock and roll stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper died in a plane crash.
  • Their backstory is also similar to that of Mamonas Assassinas, a Brazilian rock band who died in a plane crash in 1996.
