This article is about the scarecrow from the Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! episode, Eating Crow. For other scarecrows, see Scarecrow (disambiguation).

The scarecrow was a disguise used by both Jonathan and Old Tom, two rival farmers.

Physical appearance[]

The scarecrow was a human-sized monster with a burlap sack over its head, a large grey overcoat, and a damaged straw hat. Its eyes were glowing red through an unknown means, and its fingers bent in awkward, outward directions. Its messy, curly hair, as well as its body, are made of hay in Jonathan's costume and crabgrass in Old Tom's costume, and both costumes feature ropes bound around the body.

Personality[]

The scarecrow did not speak, instead scaring away its targets and crows alike with a breathy shriek. Hostile against outsiders, the scarecrow chased away those in sight, including the gang as well as farmhands.

Abilities and powers[]

The scarecrow's main advantage is its environment, as it is able to hide in tall, dense corn fields. As such, the target is seldom aware of the scarecrow's presence, allowing it to approach them with surprise. Also, as there are two scarecrows, they are able to approach their targets from two different directions, though neither scarecrow is aware of the other.

History[]

Be Cool, Scooby-Doo![]

Jonathan and Old Tom shared a farmland divided between them and both discovered natural gas deposits on each other's property. They each independently created a scarecrow disguise, based on the legend of Jebediah Thorn, to chase the other off their property, both unaware of each other's plans. After they both fell under Scooby and Shaggy's trap, they were exposed as the perpetrators, though they decided not to press charges against each other so they could prosper off the natural gas on their own land.
