Scooby Apocalypse is a comic book series published by DC Comics, starting in May 2016.[1][2] It reimagines the characters of Scooby-Doo from the 1969 Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! TV series, as well as Scrappy-Doo from the 1979 Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo TV series. Scooby Apocalypse was considered the "crown jewel" among a slate of other reimagined Hanna-Barbera properties from DC Comics.[2] However, the series ended after thirty-six issues in April 2019, having been canceled due to Warner Bros.' growing dislike of DC Comics' reimagining of the Hanna-Barbera line.[3]

It was published monthly. Unlike previous titles, which are all-ages, this title has a teen rating.

Description[]

"Those meddling kids" and their Mystery Machine are at the center of a well-meaning experiment gone wrong and they'll need to bring all of their mystery-solving skills to bear (along with plenty of Scooby Snacks), to find a cure for a world full of mutated creatures infected by a nanite virus that enhances their fears, terrors and baser instincts. This time, the horrors are real in this apocalyptic near-future badland![1]

Development[]

The comic was conceived by DC Comics co-publisher and artist Jim Lee. He worked on the first issue's cover and several more after that (before interior artist, Howard Porter took over). For the first seven issues the art was mainly done by Porter, until he moved onto another project, so Dale Eaglesham took over, with some additional artists lending a hand as well. Pat Olliffe is the current artist.
