It is a favorite place to eat for Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo.[1][2]

History[]

Early history[]

Every time a volleyball tournament or other event was held on the beach, Skipper Shelton was forced to move the Clam Cabin to another part of the beach. Shelton later expressed his frustration that he was constantly imposed upon.[1]

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated[]

Season one[]

The gang tried to go to the Clam Cabin but were unable to get in because there was no doorknob. The Skipper was inside and told them he had been trapped there because his crystal doorknob had been stolen and he couldn't get the door open without it.[2]

The gang went to the Clam Cabin for snacks prior to watching the Trickell's Trickquid volleyball tournament. Velma began pressuring Shaggy into eating healthier and he decided against ordering from the Cabin. Scooby and Fred ordered, but Daphne refused because of her severe seafood allergies. When they asked why the Clam Cabin had moved, Shelton angrily explained that the City Council always forced him to move to make room for the volleyball tournaments. Later, Fred set up a trap for the Man-Crab near the Clam Cabin, but it was accidentally set off by Shaggy when he tried to get junk food without Velma knowing. Shaggy and Scooby eventually got out of the caves below the beach and trapped the Man-Crab by following the smell from the Clam Cabin back to Fred's trap.[1]

After Scooby was falsely accused and arrested for the Fright Hound attack, Fred drove to the Clam Cabin and got Shaggy an order of food in an attempt to cheer him up. Shaggy was not motivated by the food because of missing Scooby, prompting Velma to gulp the entire order and say "Velma Delma Doo" as part of her ploy to secure him as her boyfriend. Fred, Daphne, and Shaggy were started by her behavior and Daphne whispered to her that she needed to tone it down.[4]

Shaggy and Velma went on a date at the Clam Cabin while under the influence of Aphrodite's love potion. Velma, usually repulsed by Shaggy's junk food diet, happily ate Clamonte Cristo, one of the Clam Cabin's heavily deep fried dishes.[5]

The gang went to the Clam Cabin to get information from Skipper Shelton about the missing sardine boat. Shelton revealed that the boat was run by his brother, also named Skipper Shelton, and that that there were 5 Skipper Sheltons in total - all involved in seafood and fishing. However, Shelton dismissed any suggestion of haunted drilling platforms and Fish Freaks. Later that night after the gang had left, the Fish Freaks attacked Skipper Shelton and kidnapped him.[6]

Sheriff Bronson Stone got a temporary job at the Clam Cabin after he was fired from his job as Crystal Cove's sheriff. He called himself Baghead and wore a paper bag over his head in a poor attempt to disguise his identity. Once the gang had helped Stone and restored his reputation, Fred and Daphne went on a date there as the sun set. Fred subtly proposed and as they kissed, Night Ranger moonwalked on the street by the Clam Cabin.[3]

Season two[]

The gang met with Cassidy at the Clam Cabin after K-Ghoul was destroyed by Kriestaffebots. Scooby got an order of clams while she told them about the various attempts on her life by the Kriefstaffebots and promised to be completely honest with them. Velma noticed an unusual snail on a piece of a kriegstaffebot that had attacked them earlier and explained that it could only come from the ocean floor. While they were talking, a Kriegstaffebot rose out of the ocean. When it tried to attack them, Skipper Shelton destroyed it by shooting it with a spear gun.[7]

Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby went to see Skipper Shelton at the Clam Cabin. He told them that Sheriff Stone had been at the Clam Cabin rooting through the trash. Shelton said that when he chased him away, Stone took a batch of rotten clams that had been sitting in the sun too long. Scooby was pinched by the lobsters in the Clam Cabin lobster tank.[8]

Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy went to the Clam Cabin after the Hex Girls unlocked its coordinates from the Planispheric Disk. They were looking for something out of the ordinary when Daphne realized that Skipper Shelton was wearing an antique Spanish conquistador helmet. He told them that he got it in a trade with Handsome Jimmy and confirmed that it had S. Llave written on the inside. Shelton concluded that it stood for "Susan Llave" and gave it to Velma, somehow concluding that her name was Susan Llave and that he was returning it to its rightful owner. After examining it, the gang established that they had found the second key. [9]

Appearances[]

Notes/trivia[]

  • In the Clam Cabin's first appearance in The Secret of the Ghost Rig, the gang attempt to go inside to eat but couldn't because of the missing doorknob. This is the only instance where it is suggested that customers could eat inside and is likely a minor continuity error or was animated/written prior to a design change. In all subsequent episodes, customers order from a window and eat outside while the inside is reserved for employees.
