Premise

While visiting a space center, a mysterious alien egg hatches. The gang must stop this fast-growing creature before NASA's shuttle mission is aborted.

The pre-teen Velma also had an invention of her's chosen to go into space in the previous series episode, Dawn of the Spooky Shuttle Scare.
Characters resembling Dr. Jekyll from Nowhere to Hyde and Professor Ingstrom from Scooby's Night with a Frozen Fright (both from the original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!) can be seen right after Keith Dale invites the ceremony attendees to help themselves to the refreshment table.
Frank Welker and Colleen O'Shaughnessey are uncredited as Reggie and the policeman and Celia Clyde, respectively.
Elliott Blender is miscredited as "Elliott Blinder".
