History[]
What's New, Scooby-Doo?[]
Season one[]
A large group of them "came to life" and wreaked havoc at a mall. It was all a trick by security officer, Walter Claphammer, to create a diversion while he hid stolen art in the basement.
At the end of the mystery, Velma bought a Spaceman Swinton for her cousin, unaware of its red glowing eyes and evil grin indicating that the toy could come to life after all.
Appearances[]
- What's New, Scooby-Doo?
- 111. Toy Scary Boo (no lines)
Notes/trivia[]
- The large display of identical spaceman toys on the shelf is a tribute to Buzz Lightyear of the Toy Story movies.
- Swinton's appearance also looks like an older version of Kwame from Captain Planet and the Planeteers.
- The name "Swinton" may come from Swinton Scott, who directed several other episodes of What's New, Scooby-Doo?
- The full name of the toy, "Spaceman Swinton", may also be a reference to Spaceman Spiff, Calvin's alter ego in the newspaper comic series Calvin and Hobbes.
