Strangers in the Night[]

I feel like the Strangers in the Night factoid should have an addendum like "According to Fred Silverman..." because Iwao Takamoto has a different account of Scooby's name in his book Muddlemore (talk) 22:05, September 13, 2017 (UTC)

Whatever Iwao says would be good to know. Mark Evanier also disregards the "Strangers in the Night" theory. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 08:06, September 14, 2017 (UTC)
According to Iwao, there was a rejected Hanna-Barbera dog named "Scooby" whose model sheet had been floating around the studio for awhile. It's possible that Fred Silverman added Doo to the name as a pun on Sinatra's "Dooby Dooby Doo" but that's just speculation on my part. Here's Iwao's account:

Appearances in other media[]

It says Scooby appeared in Kids for Character, but where is he in it? There's also claims of him being in Drawn Together and Robotboy, not the names of the actual episodes. I don't really want to look these up (searching for any of these seems really unappealing if there is no end result for me, aside from not being interested in any of these), so if anybody could research these than I'd appreciate it. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 20:01, February 14, 2018 (UTC)

Matpat's theory[]

Matpat's Film Theory: Scooby Doo is an Alien?! tried to link all the TV/Movie appearances together. It writes off the appearances of Scrappy Doo with the whole gang as part of a computer simulation (now if we could just write him off all together. :-)) and has the transition from guys in masks to true supernatural thanks to the "Scoobynatural" crossover with Supernatural. Interesting theory and it does blend things together somewhat.--BruceGrubb (talk) 09:49, May 17, 2020 (UTC)

Redeemed[]

Scooby, Shaggy and Velma should be in Redeemed Villains.

,

I liked him ever since I was in preschool.

Getting rid of "pet"[]

I don't like the word "pet". It sounds way too much in my opinion because in the wikipedia page of Scooby-Doo, it said that he is a mix of both a pet and companion to the gang. It could be misinterpreted, but I think that sounds a lot right. Scooby is Shaggy's best friend, but is the whole gang's companion. Scooby and Shaggy just live together because they're inseparable. All of the captured culprits in every mystery said "your meddling dog" which means that he is theirs all together.

I sort of know what you mean - Scooby is certainly more than a "pet". But legally that is what he is - and while oftentimes referred to as the Gang's "mascot" any time ownership comes up it is Shaggy who is the owner. There are stories where Scooby appears but Fred, Velma and/or Daphne do not. But none where Shaggy is absent. They are inseparable. But in the Be Cool continuity, Scoob certainly disagrees with being Shaggy's pet - Game of Chicken.

Do you have a specific wording for a change in the relevant paragraph?
