Continuity[]
- One of the dishes Shaggy and Scooby-Doo are offered as Japanese delicacies is "Dorsal Foot". Dorsal Foot was the monster in the earlier episode Some Fred Time.
- When Aki and her friends greet Daphne, dressed in her "Jackwards" style, one friend has a Daphne hand puppet and the other is wearing a beard - imitating Daphne from the episodes Mystery 101 and Poodle Justice, respectively.
Notes/trivia[]
- The Mystery Machine is absent.
- Originally in the script, Daphne was against the attention she was getting, because it lost her individuality.
Miscellaneous[]
- Disguises: Shaggy as Japanese dance video game host; Scooby as Japanese game player; Shaggy and Scooby as businessmen.
- "Ruh-roh" count:
- "Zoinks" count:
- "Jeepers" count:
- "Jinkies" count:
- Daphne Du Jour: Becomes a cultural icon/viral sensation.
Cultural references[]
- In the parade there is a giant inflatable Daphne, preceded by a banner declaring "We [love] Daphne Sama!" "Sama" is a japanese honorific, usually signifying a person of higher rank, or one who is admired.
- During the chase scene, when the gang sees Kaniaku, they are momentarily rendered as Chibi versions of themselves - an animation form that originated with Japanese anime.
- The moment when Kaniaku is caught in the hydraulic press recalls the scene from the movie "The Terminator".
- Just after catching the Kaniaku, Officer Hiroshi says "Arigato, meddling kids." Arigato is a Japanese word that translates into English as "Thank You".
Animation mistakes and/or technical glitches[]
- When Daphne attempts to pull the brakes on the cart, her left foot is shown with four toes instead of five.
Inconsistencies/continuity errors and/or goofs/oddities[]
- Officer Hiroshi gets angry at the gang for interfering with the mystery, a frequent theme throughout the series. However, in this particular instance the gang didn't actually do anything except attend the parade, something Officer Hiroshi himself encouraged, so his anger is somewhat misplaced.
- After Officer Hiroshi berates the Gang for ruining the parade, we see the Daphne balloon float by in the background, with one person still holding one of the ropes. But earlier we saw three people drop their ropes, while the last was knocked off.
