The Ghostly Guest is the second and last story in Scooby-Doo! #79 by DC Comics.
Premise
The gang is called in to investigate a strange old house in Scotland where a ghost haunts half of the house. But the legend does not quite fit since the ghost now resorts to stealing from the guests. The gang sets a trap and when they catch the ghost they reveal it to be the maid. She was stealing from the guests in order to get enough money so that the current owners would not sell the house and she could keep her job. She knew where all the valuables were kept since she would case the room while cleaning it.

Notes/trivia
- The ghost in this story is similar to Sarah Ravencroft from Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost.
Reception
The second story is the keeper. John Rozum uses a clever setting for the Gang's ghost-breaking. He brings onto the stage several suspects and clues for the reader to seance the spirited solution. Naturally, he has no problems in nailing each of the characters' personalities and does not scrimp on Shaggy's and Scooby's humorous hunt for food.
With Stephen DeStefano inking, Karen Matchette's pencils never looked better. She also seems to have expanded the size of her drawings, and that helps to convey her artistic ability. In short, this is her best work. It's cute when it should be, stylish always and classic with regard to Mystery Inc.[1]
