The Hitch-Hiker is the second of four stories in Scooby Doo... Where Are You! #9, by Charlton Comics. It was preceded by What Witch is Which?, and followed by What Became of Honest Jawn? and The Ghost of Christmas Present.

The gang picks up a mysterious hitch hiker on their way to Centraville.

The gang is driving along, and they see a hitch hiker. Fred does not want to pick him up because it is against the law. The Mystery Machine suddenly stops by itself, and the hitch hiker suddenly appears inside the van. They continue driving, and the man mentions he was born 172 years ago, and suddenly vanishes. He re-appears after Velma asks for some food, and he says that he ate it all. They reach Centraville, and he says that he is going to the other side of town. They stop at the Centraville Cemetery, and he suddenly appears outside the van. They follow him through the cemetery and see him standing at a grave marked Barnaby Slocum. He thanks them for the ride, and vanishes. As they drive away, one of them tells Fred not to pick up any more hitch hikers, but he insists that the Mystery Machine stopped by itself.
