"The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries" is the name of the theme song for the TV series of the same name. It is done in a style reminiscent of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" music video, in particular the monsters of the former doing a similar dance as in Jackson's video.
The theme was featured on the 1998 soundtrack, Scooby-Doo's Snack Tracks: The Ultimate Collection.
Lyrics[]
Scooby-Dooby-Doo, looking for you
Whoo!
Shaggy: Scooby-Doo, where are you?
Shaggy: Come on Scooby, where you been?
Shaggy: Trouble's on the loose again
(Scooby)
They're not gonna get ya
(Scooby-Doo)
Uh-uh, Scrappy's gonna help ya
(Scooby)
Ooh, Shaggy's gonna be there
(Scooby-Doo)
And Daphne too!
Scooby-Dooby-Doo, looking for you
Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you?
Scooby, Scooba-dee-doo, Scooby...
Scooby
Scooby-Doo
Scooby
Scooby-Doo!
Description[]
The opening sequence is mostly a series of short, unconnected scenes of Scooby and the gang in peril.
The words "Scooby Dooby Doo" turn into a pair of eyes, which then morph into Daphne and Shaggy. They call out to Scooby who we see wearing a beige trench coat and hat and standing in an alley, lit by a single lamppost. He winks and then joins his friends.
When Shaggy asks where he's been, he takes off the coat, revealing a regal red robe with white trim and black spots, and holding a scepter with an orb on top. Just as quickly he changes into a mauve outfit, reminiscent of a southern belle during the Civil War. He also wears a yellow curly wig and holds a mauve fan with a pink base.
The scene changes again and Scooby is a waiter in a red coat over a white shirt and black tie. He also wears a white apron. He is holding a covered platter and removes the cloche to reveal a roast chicken - just as a shadowy figure appears from behind a curtain.
Then we see Dooby Dooby Doo performing on stage followed by Scooby (on the same stage) in a vaudeville outfit. A sandbag is cut and falls, just missing him.
We then see Scooby and Shaggy with a robot, who fires a laser beam as they run away. Scooby opens a door, but a monster is waiting and moves towards him.
Thia segues into a line of monsters and nefarious-looking people doing a dance similar to the zombies in Michael Jackson's Thriller video.
Next, Shaggy and Scooby are surrounded by giant cobras, but Scrappy swings down in a rope to save them. We see an eye looking out of a barrel. It is Scooby, and Shaggy beneath him. But their weight cracks the wooden floor and they fall, just grabbing a plank. Daphne rescues them by jumping on the plank.
The Gang then creeps through a graveyard at night when a ghost scares them, causing Shaggy and Scooby to recoil. Scrappy then looks up and we see Scooby on a tightrope on the Statue of Liberty, walking from the crown to the torch. He looks down, and loses his balance. Scrappy, however, blows up a balloon for Scooby to safely land on. But he bounces up high, and is caught in a net by Shaggy and Daphne, and somehow also Scrappy, who are in a helicopter.
Scooby is then running on the paddle wheel of the Delta queen, chased by a glowing ghost. Scrappy pulls a lever catapulting both into the air. While the ghost simply vanishes, Scooby lands in the river.
The splash revels the dancing monsters again, and the sequence ends with the series title card.
