- This article is about the What's New, Scooby-Doo? incarnation. For other incarnations, see Verona Dempsey (disambiguation).
This needs a stretch. (Feel free to remove when satisfied of completion.) Needed: History is incomplete. |
Verona Dempsey was an importer and an amateur sleuth. She was a rival to Velma Dinkley, wearing clothes in inverse colors. Verona had the same initials "V.D." and even had her own catchphrase, "Jinkers".
Appearance[]
Verona is a young woman with chin-length blonde hair and a pale complexion with frameless rectangular glasses and cherry-pink lipstick. Her clothes have the same color scheme of Velma's, only inverted — red, short-sleeved turtleneck sweater, orange waist coat, orange short pleated skirt, long red socks, and orange sneakers.
Personality[]
She is arrogant and boastful about her "superior" intelligence, and she is a sarcastic rival to Velma. She's also shown to be ruthless when it comes to her business, since she's willing to sink ships carrying her competitors' goods.
Skills and abilities[]
She seems to have uncanny powers of observation and deduction. However, much of her knowledge of the criminal activity in town comes from her being a criminal herself.
History[]
What's New, Scooby-Doo?[]
Season three[]
She dressed up as the Creepy Keeper to use a lighthouse in Wisconsin so only her shipments of imported materials could enter the port. This resulted in helping Crusty McPeet and her business thrive while other local businesses were failing. However, Verona didn't count on one thing: Velma Dinkley. It's likely that she became a mystery solver just to throw suspicion off herself.
After Velma pointed out the van belonged to a group of storm chasers, Verona claimed that she knew that too (which she probably didn't) and asked the gang if they believed her, only for Velma to say that she's still the best meddler in town causing Verona to admit defeat.
Appearances[]
Notes/trivia[]
- Despite being a counterpart for Velma, Verona shares her original voice actor Grey DeLisle with Daphne.
- A LEGO set included a minifigure of Verona.
